THE PIT TEST – SERMON

GENESIS 37:12-24

#1. WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE PIT?

• It is possible that you have the PROBEM and that you’re the reason that you’re in the PIT.

Genesis 37:18 "When Joseph’s brothers saw him coming, they recognized him in the distance. As he approached, they made plans to kill him."

Romans 11:29 "For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn."

Matthew 23:12 "But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."

#2. LIES OF THE PIT

Revelation 12:10 says, “he (Satan) is the accuser of the brethren”

Genesis 37:31-33 "So they took Joseph’s tunic, killed a kid of goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood. ³² Then they sent the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, “We have found this. Do you know whether it is your son’s tunic or not?” ³³ And he recognized it and said, “It is my son’s tunic. A wild beast has devoured him. Without a doubt Joseph is torn to pieces.”

#3. THE PURPOSE OF THE PIT?

The purpose of the pit test is to get us to cry out to God.

Isaiah 26:9 "For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness."

Isaiah 9:17 "Therefore the Lord will have no joy in their young men, Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows; For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, And every mouth speaks folly. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still."
